Hard to believe that science in the devastating wake of its hubris (thalidomide, DDT, agent orange, aspartame, GMO's anyone?) could even begin to dismiss a subject it hardly understands with the label junk DNA.

With that in mind it's interesting to see that some scientists are now starting to accept that 'junk' DNA might, after all, have some purpose (given the intelligence that evolution displays in it's various biological/structural manifestations 95% of DNA can't just be there to fill in the gaps now can it?)

Rendering objects invisible using light. This is pretty powerful and incredible research, even more so with the potential applications. What's the bet that the military will be the first in line to exploit this technology?

Hard to believe anyone could think that they are entitled to this level of 'care'!

Google stepping on Microsoft's toes again? Should be interesting to see where this leads to. Ironic though how Google IS the new microsoft in so many ways.

The seeming tensions between Google and Apple look to be taken up yet another notch with Apple's recent lawsuit against HTC

Got to say though how productive is this going to be for either party? I mean, it's not as if Apple hasn't trodden on corporation's toes in the past. Seriously, where do you draw the line?

This short article about Google driven by fear of becoming obsolete through the next 'disruptive' technology is interesting. It's very rare that you come across a corporation of any size, let alone Google's global reach, openly admitting that it has fears about its longevity.

That said, their prediction of the desktop becoming obsolete within the next few years is way off the mark. I cannot see many people, myself included, wanting to work exclusively from the cloud environment or via mobile.
