Finding myself unable to keep up with the flow of all the developments in web technologies as much as I'd like to is a major annoyance. Factor in lack of time, money and resources and it's no small wonder that certain skillsets are not as up to date as they could/should be. Now that I'm learning the various intricacies and challenges presented by AS3 in its OOP form I'm wondering just how much of a departure Flash 10 will be from the current CS3 version. Will I have to keep reinventing the wheel? Or will Adobe add a few nice features here and there but keep the learning curve relatively shallow?

Cool Iris is definitely one of the most mind blowing browser plug-ins I have ever come across. With this enabled websites become a 3D panoramic 'wall' that can be scrolled through and individual sections of the wall enlarged just be clicking on them. Innovative and engaging this plug-in definitely has to be seen to be believed. If you want a novel way of surfing the web install Cool Iris now!

Just updated the e-cards section of the flash website to make use of the ExternalInterface API in actionscript. What a cool little feature that is. Now I can make calls from actionscript into javascript, retrieve database generated content and pull it back into the flash environment. No more messing around with levels.

Most people kind of guessed this would happen given the length of time legal disputes can drag on for and add to that the reality that Randy is not getting any younger it's no small wonder he's returned. And he's fighting Brock Lesnar! Man, I'd hate to see Randy lose to a relative MMA newcomer but this fight doesn't bode too well for the natural. Lesnar's size and strength may just prove too much for Couture. Additionally, I guess UFC 91 will prove whether age and time out from competing is a factor in Couture's return to the octagon.

Great to see Fedor Emilanenko back in action recently. I'll bet the naysayer's were shocked with Fedor's effortless domination of giant Tim Sylvia in 36 seconds. 36 seconds! Like Sylvia said - the guy's not human. So who's next for Fedor? Couture? Unlikely with the drawn out nonsense that is the UFC lawsuit. So who does that leave? Arlovski? Barnett? C'mon Affliction,make these match-ups happen.

As funny as I find Sacha Baron Cohen's various characters I find it hard to believe that after many years of mainstream media exposure that there's anyone out there who isn't familiar with Ali G, Borat or Bruno. Having said that I do think the 'gay' wrestling event is hilarious, especially when it's hosted in the Deep South.

Props to Forest Griffin for putting on an unbelievable show of skill, strategy and heart in dominating Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson this saturday to become the new UFC light-heavyweight champion. His domination of Jackson was a huge surprise, especially given the naysayers who reckoned Griffin would be out before the end of the first round. Those brutal leg kicks of his reminded me of Pedro Rizzo in his prime. I'll bet Jackson is having some serious problems with walking right now.

Now that actionscript 3 has been out for some time, and with the forthcoming release of Flash 10/Adobe CS4, I figure it's time I got to grips with the official AS 3 language. What better resource than one of the top flash developer's slideshow?
